Incidents on FireLens.com are geocoded, that is they are tagged with a longitude and a latitude. That information is used here to present a Google Maps geographical map of all incidents covered by FireLens.com. Each marker displayed on the map is clickable.

Please note that the map below might take a long time to load. Also note that not all incident markers appear on the map when the map is zoomed out; you must therefore zoom in (using the + button on the map) to get closer and see more incidents.

About

FireLens.com

FireLens.com currently publishes a total of 47,427 images taken by fire photographer Sylvain Pedneault on 1296 emergency calls that happened over a period of more than 18 years.

Initially started as an easy way to share photographs with firefighters appearing on them, the site quickly grew in popularity, and eventually became one of the largest single-author fire photography web sites. The map displays quite impressively the magnitude of the site's content!

Sylvain Pedneault

Having discovered the domain of firefighting through photography in 2002, I founded FireLens.com as well as many other related projects over the years. I eventually became a firefighter, then promoted lieutenant, and finally captain. I also specialize in firefighter health and safety. In other words, I keep busy! ;)
